Review of Junko Furuta Movie. The movie based on Junko Furuta’s story is one of the most disturbing films I have ever watched. It is inspired by the real-life tragedy of a 17-year-old Japanese girl who was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered in 1989. Because of how sensitive and dark the case is, the film was bound to create controversy. Watching it feels more like witnessing human cruelty than entertainment, and that is both the strength and the weakness of the movie. One good thing about the film is that it does not shy away from showing the raw horror of what Junko went through. The acting is powerful, and the lead actress captures the fear, pain, and hopelessness of a victim trapped in a nightmare. The movie also serves as a reminder of how cruel people can be, which makes it impactful and unforgettable.
